It was a glorious clear evening when I arrived home around 5:45pm, but by this time it was also late dusk and so only the last bits of fading daylight remained in the sky, barely bright enough to create a silhouette. To my chagrin (well, not entirely, as I went out for a nice dinner with friends) there was a brief but glorious aurora about 1.5 hours later. I’d love to watch and photograph a good aurora (I’ve seen a few over the years, but never photographed one), but I doubt that I’ll get one from the balcony (wrong direction and too much light pollution). In the meantime, this will have to be the “night shot”.
