The final day of my week of annual leave happened to coincide with the 12th. This means that you are guaranteed 12 photos (although long-term readers know that you usually get 13, and today, in fact, there’ll be 14).
We spent most of the day travelling homeward, with some stops on the way for caching and views and food (it would be a four hour trip without stops; today’s exploits made it about seven hours between departure and arriving home).
Noteworthy stops included
- Table Cape again, where we found a couple of caches and admired views that included fields of barley (and since I liked the patterns made by the seemingly endless ears, you’ll find a few photos in the collection, including the one below);
- ETC (the Elizabeth Town Cafe) where we had lunch; and
- Lake Dulverton at Oatlands, where we found another cache (and Mum stuck a feather in the old wooden railing, which explains the photo at right).
The day wasn’t over when I arrived home, as I headed off to Scouts in the evening for the first night of the year, and went kayaking and rowing as the sun set over Mt Wellington (summer is fading and the light-filled evenings are getting shorter again, unfortunately).
Each of the photos in this month’s 12 of 12 collection falls into one of two categories: documentary (factual photos that record the day’s events) and attempted arty (in which I try to construct something artistic without necessarily being worried about documenting some event) … if you know what I mean. I’m sure a good photographer would do both with every single photo, but I only sometimes manage this (and, of course, I am only claiming attempted arty, although I think a couple of the attempts might “come close” this month!).
Wonderful as usual. LOVE the one of the water reflections.
