Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

GROIC Day 8

IFToday 8 piles: 1 pile of odd issues of Scout magazine together with 7 sets of 12 yearly collections of The Friend. The Scouting magazine kept coming for a few months after I left Victoria, since I was still in their database back there and Vic Scouts sends the magazines to all leaders). The Friend is the magazine that my church produces for children and which I have been getting since 2006 because I have been working with this age group for all that time (mostly doing singing time). The church children’s magazine, along with the youth and adult counterparts which are due to be disposed of on some other days of this challenge, is now available electronically, and so there is no need for me to hang on to the paper copies.

There are, in fact, some 88 separate objects here, but I’m counting them as 8. Given that I haven’t planned the whole 31 days of the challenge there is a risk that getting rid of 88 things now may leave me with a problem on one of the later days, but I can guarantee that even with what I have planned (which isn’t much), the grand total of 496 objects (arising from 1+2+3+…+31) is going to be reached with ease, even if several days are omitted entirely.

The magazines were all going into the recycling bin, except that it has been suggested to me that someone might have a use for them. This is entirely possible, and I do hate to just dispose of them, but on the other hand it may be more trouble than it is worth to find a better home than the paper pulper.

Either way, however, they are going.

put them on Craig’s list as free,or give them to the desert industries…hospital pediatric wards might like some good reading material for children. women’s shelters also might use the materials. They can cut them up and use the pictures with children who stay there with their mom’s.
    just a thought
