I woke to a cool foggy morning, and, in the hope that I might be able to get some interesting shots, headed off to town in the pre-dawn gloom.
I had forgotten how eerie, disorienting, peaceful, mysterious, magical and beautiful fog can be.
I visited the outside of the Radcliffe Camera and neighbouring colleges. It was hard to decide how to photograph the Oxford “Bridge of Sighs”, because the right-hand end is covered in scaffolding and tarpaulins, but in framing them out the picture I ended up with a lop-sided look shown at right (oh, well; it’s really only an “I was here” photo, anyway!). I then revisited University Parks and rephotographed a few spots, this time with mist effects.
And finally I ended up at work, where I got around to photographing the building I’ve been in for the latter weeks of my stay (the second vertical photo). My office is behind the two (actually three) lower left windows. I’m standing in the courtyard; there’s another big building to my right, and a smaller building behind me to the left.
More and better (mostly) photos of the misty morning can be found here.
Just looked through your photos – very nice!
Just gorgeous!
LOL at “Arborealis ignoramus.” Doug’s fallback is “silvestris verdes.” (I’ve never tried to spell that out before…Huh.)
Beautiful, beautiful photos. And I love the effect of the lamps and lights in the colleges. What wonderful memories to bring home!
Did it give you a feel of Sherlock Holmes theme to it, while walking there in the mist?
