It’s been far too long. My last visit to Snug Falls was way back at the end of 2006, but it has always been one of my favourite waterfalls (which makes it pretty awesome in my scheme of favourites, since I hold waterfalls in general to be some of the best things on the planet). We had a few family picnics there where I was a kid, and I have swum in the pool at its base (it was cold even in the middle of summer), and on one occasion I took some of my Scouts for a walk up the river/creek to the falls from the block of land that I used to own some 2km downstream (the block had the river as one boundary).
I have had a draining fortnight in a draining month, and I knew I had to go in to the office to do some work, but I also knew that if I didn’t get me a dose of sunshine-and-nice-place I would go mad. So I invited Dad to come for an early morning jaunt, to revisit an old haunt, take some photos, and grab a cache. Mission accomplished; here are some of the photos.
The contrast between light and dark as the sun gradually hit more and more of the 25m high falls made getting a good exposure a bit of a challenge … but it’s a beautiful spot. The fallen tree leaning against the cliff has been there as long as I can remember, and I recall one occasion where I tossed pebbles onto it trying to get them caught in the ridges of the trunk so they wouldn’t fall off.
