Today was a glorious summer day, but very hazy, and as the afternoon sun plunged towards the horizon, the whole mountain seemed to disappear behind a bright explosion of light. As the sun actually set, the clouds on the mountain face created interesting effects on the summit.
This shot really was taken from my balcony — and thus satisfies the rules for Moods of the Mountain — but with the zoom on my little camera at maximum so that only the summit can be seen with the two television towers and the lookout between them. The sun flare on the top right is a bit too bright, but this was always going to be a difficult photo for getting the exposure right. Smarter people than me might be able to do some fudging in an image editor, but I’m happy to leave it be.
