18. Rainbow
When jobs to be tackled
Accumulate faster
Than they can possibly
Ever be done,
The far distant end
Of this lengthy list
Of tasks to be tackled
Becomes more elusive
Than the famed pot of gold
At the end of the rainbow.
To make matters worse,
The rainbow is prettier
And I would not begrudge
The journey while following it
Even if treasure
Is not to be found.

Comments: Do you get the impression that my To Do list is a bugbear that just might be dominating my whole life? It took a while to get an idea for this one (if you pay attention to the dates, you’ll notice 7 May didn’t get a poem), and then I had to unravel (or maybe “ravel”!) the parallelism (or lack thereof) between rainbows and To Do lists.
Themes to come: 19. Grey; 20. Fortitude; 21. Vacation; 22. Nature; 23. Cat
