Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

14. Smile [100 poems challenge]

14.          Smile

When you’re just two
The smallest thing
Like peek-a-boo
Can make you grin.
The joyful face
Of one small child
Like warm embrace
Makes adults smile.

Comments: On Sundays at Church I have great fun running a 10 minute singing time for the children in “nursery”. These kids are between 18 months and 3 years, and so their speaking—and hence singing—ability is very much at the developmental stage. They participate enthusiastically, and it’s a hoot watching them singing “If you chance to meet a frown” and get the giggles. It’s also fun to watch adults’ faces as they try to get little kids to grin.

Themes to come: 15. Silence; 16. Questioning; 17. Blood; 18. Rainbow; 19. Grey
