I’ve met this word before but had forgotten it until someone used it yesterday: it refers to really fine rain that just sits in the air rather than really falling. Sort of like fog only wetter; somewhere between mist and drizzle.
Actually, given the drought we’ve been experiencing back in Victoria, the whole concept of two consecutive days of dampness has become unfamiliar. Here in Tasmania, we’re sitting in the middle of what my family calls an Easterly Sludge: a soggy grey low pressure system that sits off in the Tasman Sea for three or more days and mizzles back at us in the gloom. It’s the sort of day where curling up in front of the fire with a good book seems like the best thing to do … but I suppose I’d better get back to the article I’m writing.
Sounds like I need to find me some mizzle! *envious*
