Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

Walk photo 10

There was a very cold wind blowing and I was short of time, so today’s photo was taken in haste and isn’t as good as it could have been.

Still, at least I went for a walk; after all, exercise is the point of the exercise.

<shakes head, […]

Walk photo 9

To my shame there has been a two week hiatus in my walking regimen, and I am noticing the consequences.

I got my act together this morning and headed out for another local stroll, getting the circulation going, the heart pumping, and trying to blow away the grumpiness of a frustrating week.

This shot was taken with the […]

12 of 12, July 2012

Today was just an ordinary Thursday, with nothing special likely to come up.

In fact, it was a pretty frustrating day, because I was having to do some work using a very poorly designed software package, and there were plenty of other things going wrong as well. Fortunately very little of this was recorded on film.

So, instead […]

Workshop with “The Idea of North”

The Idea of North would have to be my favourite a capella choral group (what kind of a group is an a capella group if not a choral one, I hear you ask?! And how many do you listen to, anyway? ………….. Well, I only need one!*).

When I was living in Melbourne I was lucky enough […]

Questions and awnsres

It’s been one of those days at work …

Every answer to each question that I have asked today has been at a complete tangent (if not perpendicular) to the […]

There’s always a “but” …

I was going to work all day today, prior to heading back home this evening, but I had discovered that there were three caches a few train stops away in some lovely gardens on islands in a lake. So, I found the cache here on campus first (the one that, if worse came to worst, would […]

Five go to Sentosa Island

I’ve been attending a conference in Singapore (the annual Australasian maths educators’ conference) and today it finished. After a week of attending sessions and trying to keep up with and catch up with various ongoing work tasks (and too much food and not enough exercise apart from the 15 minute walk between my accommodation and the […]
