It was a glorious day today, and so I did a 6km walk around Lindisfarne Point. There are fantastic views of the Derwent and so I stopped and did a sequence of photos to make a panorama (hindered by having water in the picture and by the fact that the camera was set for wide angle, with resulting distortions). You can get a larger version by clicking on the picture.
Impressive. I like the bridge on the left 🙂
Believe me, it has looked and been even more dysfunctional in its past. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasman_Bridge_disaster, and for some photos (including one showing two precariously balanced cars) see http://www.australiaforeveryone.com.au/hobart/hobart_tasmanbridge.htm.
Oh don’t get me wrong, it could look more inspiring if it was a suspension bridge or something more charismatic but I do like it in this photo.
That disaster does look disastrous!
I thought you’d noticed the hiccup in the middle where two of the component photos had merged awkwardly. (I’m sorry the bridge isn’t charismatic enough for you! I like it.) The disaster was, indeed, disastrous. Not only was there the immediate loss of life, but the impact on everyday activity in Hobart was massive.
