Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

More grumbling about matters pedantic

Dear Blogspot’s Spambot Detector

The first “word” is a number. The second “word” is a meaningless jumble of letters, and while, mathematically speaking, it might be regarded as a word, it does not exist in any written human language and doesn’t even yield one hit with Google.

What’s more, a robot could tell you this.

Please prove you’re not […]

50th Scout Guide Regatta 2013

This year was the 50th Scout Guide regatta, held down at Snug and attended by about 1000 Scouts and Guides of all different ages (they even let Cubs come this year!). Most of our troop attended, and we had quite a noticeable presence in among the tents because Skip (Georgie) and a few of the Scouts […]

Today was one of those days where I half-forgot about 12 of 12: it never came to mind when there were vaguely interesting things happening (I managed to find a formal evening dress … which, given my lack of self-confidence when clothes shopping, was a truly miraculous event … but one which, for now at least, […]
