Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

Hot spots for the second law of thermodynamics

Entropy is basically a measure of how disordered something is, and the second law of thermodynamics basically says that in a closed environment (without the addition of extra energy … such as hard work) entropy increases or, at “best”, remains the same.

In short: things get messier.
