I’ve been doing 12 of 12 for 18 months now, but in all that time the 12th has never coincided with a Scout camp, despite the fact that we have one just about every month. The March long weekend, of which the 12th was part, is the date for our local district’s competition camp, known as the Fitzgerald Cup. The Scouts camp in patrols and are responsible for looking after themselves for the weekend: cooking, cleaning, site selection and set up, and building the odd one or two constructions. The 12th was the first day, most of which is spent setting up … and, on this occasion, driving back to the Scout hall to pick up items that were forgotten. Ooops.
The photos show only this first day; I didn’t even take any photos of the torrential downpour we had on Sunday or the beautiful thick mist that followed it, nor is there a shot of the happiness on my face when (a) the sun came out on Monday and dried all the gear so that there were no wet tents to bedraggle the Scout hall when we got back, and (b) our two patrols were awarded A grade and one of them actually won the cup (for the second year in a row (in fact, a patrol from our troop has been a winner or co-holder every year since 2007, and regularly before that)). 🙂
Twas a good weekend – even with the heavens opening up!
And congrats again to the Cup holders!! 😀
