Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

I had little of free time and little of inspiration today.

I’d taken a photo of the snowy mountain this morning, and had thought I might try to get a few more photos of the mountain from different angles or try for something a little weather related (there had been snow falling on my side of the […]

A winter Scout camp

I have to admit that it was a little unfortunate that last week’s balmy early spring weather disappeared on the weekend, as it would have been nice to have had a Scout camp where we did not have to set up tents in the pouring rain, and to have been able to plan activities rather than […]

Six wishes for a dollar

On Saturday afternoon I joined my Hobart brother’s family for a stroll along the Pipeline Track at Fern Tree, with our initial destination being the Wishing Well.

It was a glorious day, the air was redolent with damp bushy smells, and the mossy banks beside the track were trickling with the groundflow of water from recent rains […]
