[This should really be a “Quirk”, but the title was too good to waste.]
I am fortunate in that I generally sleep well and soundly. It is rare, though, that I am aware that I dream. As far as my consciousness is concerned my brain doesn’t do much at all until the morning alarm goes off. I presume I do dream despite this typical blankness, and there are some rare occasions when I wake with the memory of some vestigial remnants of a dream. Of course, this fades all too rapidly … and even faster if I try to recall it.
A peculiar thing, however, occurs when I sleep in the spare bed at my parents’ place. I sleep well, as usual, but almost every morning consciousness returns with a strong sense of having dreamed. I rarely recall very much—and what I can bring to mind is usually typically weird and incoherent—but the feeling is quite intense. It only seems to happen in this particular bed; I have spent a few nights elsewhere lately and these have appeared to be dream-free.
I have no idea why this might be happening. It doesn’t bother me; it’s just peculiar!
