The morning was barely half done by the time we got back from Solomon’s Throne to the track junction and so, despite knowing more uphills were involved, we decided to go up The Temple as well. This mountain, in the middle of the Walls, is not as high as some of its neighbours, but it was still worth making the undulating climb to its summit.
We actually managed a “first to find” on a geocache that had been hidden up here for 10 months, which was an added bonus (unfortunately I failed to realise that there was a second cache in the vicinity … so I guess I’ll just have to go back!).
We could look across to Solomon’s Throne, and, with the power of a zoom lens, make out people standing on top, knowing that we’d been standing in that very spot an hour before.
The Vale of Bethesda just couldn’t help being photographed again, and we could also see down Jaffa Vale to the little lake we’d visited yesterday and the larger Lake Ball beyond that, where we would be walking in the afternoon.
My brother’s little camera did a nice panorama of a 135° sweep from the south (left) around to the north-west (right), while I was content to just fit in the whole West Wall with part of The Temple in the foreground.
I reckon two peaks in a morning is a pretty good effort.
