I’ve been here for nearly two years and have done next to nothing with the garden apart from mowing the lawn occasionally and glaring at the bamboo. Actually, I have done more than just glaring, as I have removed some of the new shoots when they’ve reared their ugly heads, but removing the little thicket is going to require more energy and aggression — and time — than I’ve managed to muster so far.
Anyway, I’d like the garden to be full of lovely spring colour, and native ground covers, and all that kind of thing, but another spring has been disappearing without me having a chance to do much about getting some landscaping done.
However, today I spent all of $20 buying 10 cheap and cheerful petunia/pansy/violet type things and all of 20 minutes (plus some bamboo removal) planting them out the front. It’s probably not the best spot for them and I’m not sure I want them in the long term, but for now they are adding a touch of colour and an illusion of horticultural action.
Bloomin’ Beautiful; keep up the good work!

Some cheap and cheerful colour can do wonders to lift the mood at times 🙂
