I thought I was going to be throwing out shoe boxes today but I discovered that I had more than three, and so I went with three pairs of “shoes” instead. I think I might have commented elsewhere that I do have an embarrassingly large number of items of footware, largely functional rather than decorative, and often special purpose. I’m also loath to throw things out if they still have a possible use. These three items are in this category, but, if I am brutally honest, they are redundant.
Therefore, they are going.
Their stories, briefly, are as follows:
- the pair of thongs bear the ID of the first Jamboree I ever attended (you need a pair for wearing in the showers), although I don’t think they’ve been to any other Jamborees, which explains why I have decided that they are redundant;
- the pair of sandals were bought in the Czech Republic in 2006 when the pair I was wearing broke, and although they served me quite well they are actually too big for me; and
- the runners are an old pair that had transitioned to the “save to wear on a muddy or wet activity” category, but, frankly, I have some neoprene booties for water activities, and if I need something for a muddy event I actually have a “better” pair of old shoes.
