Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

58. Kick in the Head [100 poems challenge]

58.          Kick in the Head

I rikkin when yore git up and go
Done got uppen goned
There ain’t much you kin do bout it,
‘Ceptin’ mebbe findin some body
Who kin give yoursin a
Right good kick in the head.

Only iffen there’s nowt but yoursin
To be doin it
Then lessen youse
Doublejointid or sichlike
I rikkin youse
Ain’t gonna git yore
Good ole metatarsals
Anyplace nigh yore cranium,
So I’m figgerin
Mebbe yore head’s safe
But yore’s git up and go is
Long ways gone
An’ ain’t lookin likely t’be comin back.

Comments: Hmm, I’m not sure the silly voice works at all (nor, indeed, am I sure what flavoured silly voice it is meant to be). I had a couple of days recently, however, where my get up and go had definitely taken a long walk to places unknown, and I felt I needed a good kick in the head to click myself back into something vaguely resembling a motivated state.

Themes to come: 59. No Way Out; 60. Rejection; 61. Fairy Tale; 62. Magic; 63. Do Not Disturb
