My day began (and ended, in fact) with a task that really needs to be finished soon. However, it's a secret at the moment; you'll have to come back after August 21 or so to see the photo (heh heh). Suffice to say that I made time to do a little work on it first thing this morning before heading to work, and then I finished putting the rest of it together tonight after the evening's huge debacle. I'm hoping it will fall into place on Saturday.

UPDATE 20 August: The secret is now revealed. The Burke and Wills expedition left Melbourne on 20 August 1860, intending to complete a south-north crossing of Australia and return. History tells of their failure: mangrove swamps prevented them from reaching the sea in the north, and on the return journey the leaders died of starvation, having missed connecting with their supply party by a matter of hours. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of this event various Australian geocachers have hidden caches at places of interest along the route taken by this ill-fated expedition. I have two caches in this project: a small one on the edge of the Melbourne CBD, and this larger one which is now hidden not far from Bolinda Creek. This is some 50km or so from Melbourne (my attendance at a nearby Scout campsite gave me an opportunity to hide it on the aforementioned Saturday), and the party camped here for one wet and miserable night (although we're not sure exactly where). You can read the cache description here: http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga2516 (and the smaller Royal Society of Victoria cache is described here: http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga2531).
