Christmas Card History 2015 - present

(I took photos of the cards using my small digital camera, without taking a great deal of care over lighting and the "bowing" distortions
associated with using a wide angled lens. Colour accuracy is likely to be a bit suspect, too.)

2015

Media: Created on Illustrator, with multiple layers and shadow effects..

Production method: Digital image printed as a JPEG photo (i.e., a photographic print). Prints then pasted onto grey card.

Other notes: -.

2016

Media: Created using Procreate on the iPad (which boiled down to glorious digital finger painting, using the pastel and smudge features).

Production method: Digital image printed as a JPEG photo (i.e., a photographic print). Prints then pasted onto card.

Other notes: This one might be titled "Essence of Nativity". Time was short as I was going away in mid-December, and I wanted to try something a little more abstract. I'm not totally happy with it, but I like the idea of it.

2017

Media: Created using Procreate on the iPad. I used a stylus and the layers feature was very useful for someone who struggles with colouring in between the lines!

Production method: Digital image printed as a JPEG photo (i.e., a photographic print). Prints then pasted onto card.

Other notes: I wanted to try to produce a “stained glass window effect” which I have done this on at least two occasions in the past. In case no one notices the subtle symbolism, the lamb and Jesus’ swaddling clothes are the same colour. And, for the pedants out there, yes, I know the wise men are likely to get lost since the star in the picture is really not being much help as a navigation aid for the stable … even though it is generally agreed that the wise men probably came a year or so later, and thus did not visit the stable, and the shepherds were following the angel’s instructions on the GPS (“at the next roundabout, take the third exit”!) instead of relying on astronavigation (it’s the end of a long year, and my sense of humour has lost the plot!).

2018

Media: Created using Procreate on the iPad. I think I mostly "finger-painted" this, which may explain some of the klutziness, although the "neon" feature allowed some nice star effects.

Production method: Digital image printed as a JPEG photo (i.e., a photographic print). Prints then pasted onto card.
