A day of food, meetings, and photographic diversion.
At breakfast in my hotel I was seated by a window which was taken up with a large textured vase. This is the view through the handle to the blue sky (and power lines) beyond.
At uni my day was taken up with a nearly-all-day meeting with the rest of the maths education folk.
When the meeting was done I returned to my hotel and went for a stroll to the nearby old Inveresk rail yards, to take some photos of the old industrial architecture.
Painted corrugated iron.
Old big door.
Moon, clouds, and finial.
Hooks for holding the doors open.
Power line silhouettes.
Railway line confluence.
“Boarded” up windows.
River reeds in the whichever-Esk River this is (ahh, it’s the North Esk).
The maths gang met up again this evening and had dinner together at a very nice restaurant. I’ve eaten there before, and the hot rock cook-it-yourself steak is definitely worth having. The volcanic stone is sizzling hot, and then holds its heat for the whole meal, letting you cook to perfection the pieces of steak that you cut to mouthful-sized pieces and sear on its surface.
(The “12 of 12” project involves taking 12 photos on the 12th of the month. This provides the opportunity to get snapshots of different aspects of your life. I have been doing this since 2009.)
Love the vase, the North Esk and … the YOM!
