I woke up this morning, very aware of the pile of marking awaiting my tender ministrations (a.k.a. the rampant red pen*). I knew it was going to be a marking day because the weather forecast wasn’t promising. However, when I looked up at the mountain and saw that there was still a smattering of snow on top and some wispy cloud drifting across the Organ Pipes and the overcast skies weren’t too ominous and there was even a hint of sunshine, well you can imagine the ensuing debate:
Marking? No, mountain. But the marking? But I need some mountain.
So I hurled the marking in the car, knowing that I’d end up at the office for most of the day, and headed up to the top of Mt Wellington. It was cold and windy, but there were some lovely snow, ice and cloud effects, as you can see from the following photos.
And then I spent the rest of the day in the office … and, fortunately, managed to get that pile of marking done.
* Actually the red pen is really a pencil, as it makes it easier to correct my erroneous hasty judgements!
