83. Heal
Invisible wounds
That ache,
Their pain
Emotional
Not physical,
Sore and itching
In the aftermath
Of hurt.
Irritated
I do not
Leave them be
But niggle
At the scabs
And so the
Scars remain.
Some injuries
Mark me as
Victim of
Others’ acts
Intentional
And inadvertent;
With time
My anger fades
Or I forget,
And throbbing fades.
But some are
Self-inflicted:
Mistakes and
Erring judgements,
The pangs of regrets
And foolishness.
These cut deeper
And hurt longer
Since in
Self-recrimination
I will not
Let them heal.

Comments: Don’t we all do this, to some extent or another? There are some things we sort out externally but which we hold onto within ourselves for far too long, perhaps because we feel we don’t deserve to stop hurting. We need to forgive ourselves, and to seek a little peace.
