Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

Family at the zoo

Just before Easter my quiet little abode became more crowded and noisy when my Adelaide brother and his family came to stay for four nights. They were on their way to Tassie for their first visit in over two years, and I caught up with them again down there after Easter for a family reunion which didn’t go entirely to plan as one of my sisters was in hospital with a nasty mystery infection.

While the Adelaide mob were here they visited a few of the sights of Melbourne and I joined them for some time at Melbourne Zoo. It was a lovely day, and the light was nice for photography, so here are some shots of my nieces and nephews.

Caitlin is the eldest, and she is artistic and musically talented. Ethan is good at sport and also enjoys music too. In fact all three of the older children play various stringed instruments (among other things) and so they could easily rustle up a string trio. Tahnee is just a little too young to make it a quartet just yet!

Elias thinks I am a cool aunty so he clearly has good taste, and Tahnee — the most recent addition to the family — was just reaching the independently mobile stage at the time of their visit … but my house survived!

It was great to have them visit even if it was for such a short time and there were other things happening at the same time (such as work … yerch!). I’ll have to find an excuse to get to Adelaide again soon.
