I arrived at the University of Tasmania today, and they gave me an office with a nice empty desk and clear bookshelves.
Those of you who know the state of my Melbourne office will be wondering how long it will last.
I can tell you:
About 10 minutes (in fact, I had to clear it again, in order to take the photograph!!)
It’s very quiet here at the moment, because the main person I came to visit is currently in … Melbourne (gotta love life’s little ironies)! Some of the settling-in things are working well (on arrival I received a key and a nice box of brand new stationery, plus some IT support for setting up), but I don’t have my email running in the usual way at the moment. I hope this can be resolved as I’ll be much more efficient if I can run things “normally” (it’s kind of ironic that I can have things working well in a random Wellington hotel room, but things get more clunky when I just change to a different Australian university). Today I’ve tried to tidy up some left-over tasks from the chaos of last week, and then I’ll be able to get stuck into some real desk-messing work.
That can’t be your desk! I have seen your desk. I want proof!
Have a sensational time. Janine
Hi Helen, how are you ? How is Tasmania? We went camping in Newcastle. Hannah
