The weather, after being surprisingly mild this past week (around 17°C … apart from in my new office where it seems to be 2° cooler), is about to take a turn for the worse apparently. Everyone is expecting that the coming wind is going to rid the trees of their autumn leaves. Thus it was that large numbers of people—John, Anne and me included—flocked to the Harcourt Arboretum south of Oxford to enjoy the spectacle of the acers (maples) in October.
The range of colours was extensive, and one particular tree (which didn’t photograph well, so I can’t show you) had a striking gradation of shades down its height, from dark copper at the top to bright yellow at the base. The red Japanese maples were brilliantly vibrant and attracted lots of photographers … who kept getting in each other’s way!
There are more photos here (some are a little blurry, because it was getting overcast, and sunset is now occurring just after 4:30pm).
Really enjoying all the pics, your satrical remarks and wit
Ooh, pretty!
Helena J: It seems odd to me that we are in sync with our seasons at the moment! There wasn’t a nice pool though like the one in that gorgeous photo you had on your blog.
