This week’s two night trip to Launceston is centred around the 12th, and so, since I took a few photos on my northbound journey, I’ll post those first, then bring you 12 of 12, and finally, if there’s something that catches my eye on my return journey (and I do have some possibilities in mind, weather and traffic permitting), you’ll get a separate #18S later.
I left a little later than I wanted today, which meant that dusk hit sooner than I had hoped. There were some glorious light effects from the very late afternoon sun over Oatlands, but the road was jammed with end-of-weekend traffic, and I couldn’t stop easily … so you’ve missed out on them. I did, however, manage to stop on either side of Tunbridge, as there were fascinating dramatic cloud formations just on and after sunset. And the sunset itself, while not the most spectacular I’ve seen, created some lovely reflections in a dam.
The first shot, while not a very good photograph, shows some interesting rain clouds doing weird and wonderful things.
I took the sunset-over-the-dam shot with my iPhone, using its HDR setting which resulted in a better exposure than my other camera would have managed.
I like the flat blueness of the far hills in this shot of the skeleton tree fields (I’ve taken a few shots in the past that have tried to capture the desolate beauty of these benighted trees, but it’s a vast area and it’s hard to give the full impression).
On the other side of Tunbridge there were more dramatic clouds over the paddocks, and with the sun all but set the light was dim and ominous.
