I’ve had the idea for this month’s 12 of 12 for a while now, but wasn’t sure if I’d have time to pull it off. Even going for the rough-and-ready approach I’ve taken these still took a bit longer to do than I could really afford, but I had some fun doing them.
So, I present my 12 of 12 tribute to some of the classics of the art world. It is best to call them “interpretations”; it would take considerably more effort — plus an assistant since it was really hard to do this on my own — to get better matched resemblances.
The titles link to the copies of the original works, as housed elsewhere on the web.
Detail of The Creation of Adam, Sistine Chapel (Michelangelo)
Nude [Legs] Descending a Staircase, No. 2 (Marcel Duchamp)
The Milkmaid (Johannes Vermeer)
First Class Marksman (Ned Kelly Series) (Sidney Nolan)
The Monarch of the Glen (Sir Edwin Landseer)
(described by Bill Oddie, in an episode of The Goodies, as a cow with twigs stuck to its head)
American Gothic (Grant Wood)
(okay, so I don’t have a pitchfork)
La Trahison des Images (René Magritte)
Drawing Hands (Maurits Cornelis Escher)
I just absolutely loved this 12 of 12. Wonderful work Helrn!
Brilliant! (I laughed at the pipe.)
Hah, awesome! I also laughed at the pipe, and the rest all elicited grins at the very least :-)!
My mind is so ordinary that I would never have the thought required to come up with this sort of idea. I love that you think so weirdly… (that’s a compliment!) and I love your photos 🙂
