There’s been a bit of it about lately, so, taking my inspiration from the laws of thermodynamics, I present the laws of stupidynamics.
Zeroth Law
If two systems are each as a stupid as a third, then they are as stupid as each other.
First Law
Stupidity is easily created but can only be destroyed by the addition of large amounts of energy of an educative nature*. Stupidity can change forms and it can flow from one place to another.
Second Law
When two systems with different levels of stupidity approach one another there is a high risk that they will come to equilibrium with the stupidity of the more stupid system, and a significant likelihood that both will end up more stupid than before. It takes great energy to get both to reach the level of the less stupid system and a miracle for any one of them (let alone both) to end up with lower stupidity than both original systems.
Third Law
The stupidity of a system remains constant or increases as the educative input approaches zero. REALLY stupid systems manage to do the same even with significant educative input.
*This includes a large stick wielded with enthusiasm/frustration.
Been dealing with some particularly frustrating people/scenarios recently, have you Helen?
Oooh, yes. Yesterday was a bit of a doozy.
[…] to mention all the stupidity that is […]
