Northward ho, again. After nearly a year free of them, there are now several sections of the Midlands Highway affected by roadworks. It’s going to be a long year.
In fact, I’d taken a detour to avoid the worst of the roadworks, but because I’d overslept slightly and I wasn’t sure how long the alternative route would take I didn’t think I had enough time to stop for photographs, which was a shame because the morning sun was particularly lovely over the less familiar terrain of my detour. Once back on the main highway I was a little surer of my timing and I figured I had a couple of minutes up my sleeve and so stopped and took the following shot of a tree growing in a stubbly paddock with branches/leaves that come down only as low as the heads of the sheep that graze there.
I got to Launceston just in time for my meeting, only to discover that it was a 10 for 10:30 meeting and everyone else was running later than me. What a stupid waste of time.
At least I had a nice walk up the gorge in the evening.
(The shot below was taken using the HDR setting on the iPhone: the light was definitely awkward, but I’m told the HDR approach sort of combines a number of exposure settings into one photo to get a better range of contrasts and highlights. My non-HDR photo of the same scene had a completely washed out sky.)
