There were some lovely things to see on my most recent overnight trip to Launceston, but not enough time for extended stops. Actually, it is slightly more complicated than merely “not having time” to stop, since I think I am pathologically averse to stopping when I’m driving from A to B. It takes considerable mental effort to make the decision to interrupt my journey. Once I’m going, I like to keep going, although perhaps this may just be a reflection of my pathological inability to make decisions of any kind in anything other than an extended period of angst-ridden contemplation. However, it also occurred to me that if I could find time to make the journey at a more leisurely pace and if I could overcome my inertia — and if I were a better photographer — I could get a fascinating portfolio of midlands photos.
Despite my usual aversion to breaking the drive, on the latest trip I stopped on the way up, where the sun was playing hide-and-seek with the clouds, and then on my way back today the late afternoon sun suddenly broke forth onto the nearby hills creating vivid colours and shadows (indeed, the vividness was actually a bit too much for the camera, as the photo was a little overexposed).
You “could” if you wanted too…but then again, could you? hahahahhaha!
