As I come in my front door (which I don’t do very often, because I tend to come inside via the garage) my eyes immediately strike the collection of things shown in the photo at right (and when I come in via the garage I walk past them as well, but in passing rather than having a direct view).
I counted them the other day.
There were 20.
Hmmmm …
…
Nah, just kidding. These have waaaaaay too much sentimental value. The teddy bear — and the bunny rabbit, too, I think — are as old as I am, and many of the penguins are reminiscent of a long-ago-loved-to-death penguin of similarly ancient vintage, that I apparently referred to as “pigwing”. If I remember correctly (and assuming I actually remembered to do it at the time) I gave all my new-born nieces and nephews pigwings of their own shortly after their births.
So, given that I’m NOT getting rid of these for the Get-Rid-Of-It Challenge, what am I doing?
I spent yesterday sorting out quite a lot of stuff, some of which will appear (well, disappear) in coming days. My first order of business was to go through all my carefully filed equipment documentation, and get rid of all the instruction manuals and brochures for which the equipment is long gone or so easy to use that nobody needs a manual for it.
There are at least 20 items here.
I have, however, kept the odd one or two Allen keys for the Ikea furniture.
