12. Insanity
A calendar with hour-long meetings
Separated by hour-long gaps;
A To Do list that has three things added
For every one that is completed;
A software upgrade
Worse than the previous iteration;
A workplace that wants exponential growth
In a place with static population;
An inbox of 12000 items
2000 of which have not been read;
And a preposterous idea to write
A hundred poems in a hundred days.
2 May 2013
Comments: The calendar bit isn’t quite true everyday (although this week and next are particularly ugly), but on the day of writing the poem there were four scheduled appointments/meetings (one of which I gave up on), with a further three unscheduled other significant interruptions. No wonder I’m behind on everything. The Gary Larson cartoon showing a student raising his hand to the teacher and saying “Mr Osborne, may I be excused? My brain is full” resonates with me at the moment.
Themes to come: 13. Misfortune; 14. Smile; 15. Silence; 16. Questioning; 17. Blood
