Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

Walk photo 5

I decided to do today’s walk on my way to my sister’s place for Sunday family dinner.

It was only after I’d taken the photo and walked past the fence* that I properly read the sign that said I wasn’t supposed to be in this particular spot. Normally I’m an obsessive reader, reading every word on signs, but because there were several icons saying no bikes, no horses, no dogs, and no motorbikes I assumed this was the full list of banned things and — since I was none of these — thus continued on my merry way. I completely missed the written text that said “no people”.

I presume the dogs and horses are able to read the icons …

* I should point out that the tide goes out a very long way in this shallow bay. This is why the fence goes out so far. It also comes right up onto the beach, but it doesn’t go all the way to the hinterland, so it is readily passed. In fact, I hadn’t yet reached the fence in any case.
