Dramatis persona*

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

Cliches 1

Isn’t it funny how geeky boy science students don’t seem to have changed in 25 years?! Most of the science buildings on the UTas campus are clustered together, and when I wandered down that way yesterday there was a group of nerdy males conversing, looking just like the nerdy males I remember from my own uni days. The ditzy blonde girl education students don’t seem to have changed much either, but have, perhaps, managed to keep up with contemporary fashion a little better!

I was in a bar in Salamanca one Saturday night recently and although there was a suitably aged crowd around me, there was a private function in a room at the back for the young and underdressed. The girls were all wearing their mother’s black petticoats with shoestring straps, and killer heels they couldn’t walk straight in (although the jugs of rum’n’coke disappearing into the room may have helped with that). And the boys all looked like they’d rolled straight out of bed. Suspect it took hours in front of the mirror and lots of ‘product’ for them to get to that point though. And when did young girls start holding hands on the way to and from the loo?
