Some of the Scouts are working towards construction badges, and so we met up at the hall this morning to build something.
I thought we might build a bridge.
The Scouts, on the other hand, looked in the Fieldbook and saw the plans for a simple little chair, which took their fancy.
It wasn’t long before “simple little chair” became “let’s use the big spars and build a giant couch”.
An hour or two later, and we had a five-seater couch … and had discovered the virtues of diagonal braces for strength and stability … and the uncomfortable corrugations caused by the rows of smaller spars that we had used as slats for the seat.
We toyed with the idea of taking it up to the nearby oval so that we could watch the footy match, but we had a few other tasks that we wanted to do, and the couch didn’t like being moved all that much.

How much fun is this! Just what the best memories are made from. casey
Brilliant! Would you object to me sending the pic to my Scouts?
I only have one other query… “innocent”?? :p
