I was posting a letter the other night and as I returned to my car I noticed something odd about the nearby pole.
Almost the entire length of it had been surrounded by crocheted squares which, in turn, had been decorated with crocheted flowers. These are not visible because they’re around the back of the pole, and in taking the photo I wanted to show the pole’s original function. There was a laminated tag attached as well, indicating that the work was perpetrated by the “Twilight Taggers”, a group that consists of at least one individual who indulges in “yarn-bombing”. Apparently there are more of these quirky bits of crochet in public places.
Anyway, it appealed to my sense of whimsy.
I came across one last year. Shall have to dig out the pic and show you some time, but it was a crocheted heart woven onto a park bench. Subtle, but lovely! 🙂

random ‘yarn bombing’ – love it!
this one does look planned though, or a massive coincidence that the colours match the signage
what an observant eye you have to pick up on this little patch of creativity in the city
There’s a bike rack at the end of Murray Street right near Parliament House that is always encased in knitting.
