In the past few weeks I have been focused on getting to the 22 January: returning from the UK, going to Tassie for Christmas, surviving a fortnight or so of Scout Jamboree, and then helping out with a summer school that we only found out we’d be doing less than two months ago.
Well, I’ve made it.
As for what happens next, I have almost no idea.
There are many, many things that should be on a brand new list, but I haven’t had a chance to think about what they are, far less actually write them down and think about how I am going to achieve them. It isn’t helping matters that I’ve had an exhausting cough for the past week, nor that my 6-year-old PDA is no longer fulfilling its role as a diary/planner that syncs with my computer.
Time for some rest, a list … and, methinks, a new toy.
Hi Helen, this is the second reference I’ve seen you make about your cough… and I’m concerned!
Please see a Dr. and tell him/her that your sister in law (w) and nieces + nephew have had whooping cough. People who have been immunized, and adults often don’t have the classic whoop sound as part of the cough. Immunized adults who are unaware that their persistent cough is actually whooping cough are the main source for new infections, and it is highly infectious. My 2 littlest ones and myself have got it, and none of us are whooping, but boy is the cough exhausting. Antibiotics make a significant difference to the severity and duration of the infection. Incubation can take 3+ weeks, and you were here for Christmas.
I really hope I’m wrong to be suspicious, but I really think you should get it checked out. Hope you feel better soon, and enjoy toy researching and shopping!
Libby
I now have some antibiotics, although the doctor didn’t formally diagnose whooping cough (actually, he didn’t formally diagnose anything, just “possibly a virus”). I’ll be glad to be rid of it.
It is so comforting to know that there are others out there who can play “mother” and nag you to see a doctor! It worked, didn’t it? Thank you, Libby, and get well soon, Daughter.
