Dramatis persona*

helenhead Helen Chick

I've always wanted a bumper sticker that said "I'm a female, LDS/Mormon, Scout leading, geocaching, piano-playing, bicycling, mathematics educator with a PhD in maths ... and I VOTE"!

I think this makes me a minority group of cardinality 1!

* Since there's only one of me and "personae" is plural (I think), I've gone with dramatis persona.

Returning ruminations

  • I would like to know who left my Melbourne office in such a state!
  • My shadow is but a shadow of its former self: it is now only 1m long at 2:30pm (in comparison to 8m)
  • It’s still light at 4pm … and 6pm … and 8pm
  • Oh, and it’s light at 6am … which rather affects jet-lag recovery sleeping-in plans
  • I’m noticing the suburban avian fauna more than I used to (there seems to be a much greater attention to bird-life in the UK)
  • I think I was hoping to recover my memory while away, but I don’t remember for certain
  • I don’t need five layers of clothing
  • The trees have leaves … even the deciduous ones
  • Having lived for three months with the contents of just one suitcase (and some local support from my hosts) I can’t help wondering if I have too much STUFF (actually I know I do; the question is, which of it is really necessary?)
  • Due to various things I won’t start to feel “back to normal” until the beginning of February … and probably not even then (and that’s assuming I remember what “normal” was … or have some idea of what I intend it to be)

Normal is very over rated Helen, I tried it once… not going to bother again!
If you figure out how to determine which stuff is necessary, and which stuff isn’t, PLEASE let me know. Our last house was 30 squares, plus a basement and double garage. Now we have 10 squares. I’m even trying to cull books, which is just, well, un-natural!
Good luck re setting your body clock, and good luck setting the office to rights.
    Welcome home, and Merry Christmas.

Welcome back! Wasn’t sure if you were having Christmas in Hobart so sent your card to your Mum. Hope the jetlag settles down soon and that you enjoy your Christmas break. I think my brain’s gone on holiday already!
