Port Meadow and the Thames

My regular cycle route takes me past Port Meadow, although I did a 600m detour today to get to the Thames.

Port Meadow. At the beginning of autumn there was hardly any water to be seen here, apart from the narrow Thames running across the top horizon and down the left (west). Now, however, the meadow is filling with water and birdlife, and this morning there was a mist just visible on the distant northern reaches.

A branch of the Thames at the south-west corner of Port Meadow.

The Thames is now quite full, although the path is still passable. The Thames is split into two branches just here.

Boats moored near Port Meadow. The willows get chopped back severely (pollarded) which is why they grow in that "bad hair day" style. It's good for them.

Bike tracks and footprints on the icy boards of the bridge over the Thames at the south-west corner of Port Meadow.

Ducks and early morning light on the Thames.
